Southwest Animation and Gaming Expo, Set to Entertain San Antonio January 2015
San Antonio, TX – Monday, October 29, 2012 – 12:00pm: The Southwest Animation & Gaming Expo (SWAG Expo) will be an event never seen in San Antonio and surrounding area’s January 30th through February 1st, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk. SWAG Expo is brought together by a seasoned group of convention planners, video game journalist, YouTube personalities and animation/gaming enthusiasts that are planning a yearly convention that will have guests and events spanning all areas of animation and gaming fandom for three spectacular days.
SWAG Expo is unique event in that it caters not only to the common Japanese animation audience, but rather to the wide audience that enjoys animation on a whole. Anime is just one country’s specific style of animation. Animation is just like any other media, it is an art form and a way to tell a story, be it hand-drawn, stop motion, computer generated, or any other style, all of which our staff wishes to celebrate.
Video gamers will have plenty to partake in at the SWAG Expo as well. Whether you’re the hardened tournament player or a fun-loving party gamer, you will have plenty of gaming choices to choose from. Gaming areas will be available for all: a casual area for gamers to play some of their favorite games, a retro area filled with classic games from the past, and a tournament area where tournaments will be running for the most competitive games. Also independent developers from Texas and surrounding areas will also be on hand to display their newest games.
SWAG Expo will also provide an array of panels that will let both animation and gamers discuss the multiple genres that they love. SWAG Expo will also provide an array of musical, and industry guests from some of your favorite animated shows and video games as well as indie talent from around the world wide web. At SWAG Expo you’re not left out, we want every kind of fan to come and feel like they belong because we have no specific preference or culture to pertain to so with that SWAG Expo’s audience will be wide and varied, and it’s possible for entire families, both children and adults, to be captivated by animation and games, and not just from Japan or America, but from all around the world.
We have specifically chosen to hold our event in two years in the future in order to safely organize the event with as few hiccups as possible. We want this to be an event worthy of your attendance. We know that we can’t possibly throw this event alone so we will eventually need further help in many different fields, and we’ll soon have more information on how you can participate to make this event as great as it can possibly be. Such assistance will include things such as filling certain job positions within the staff, volunteering for the event, and how we can work together to raise funds to throw a fantastic weekend.
